Join us for a textiles workshop celebrating Jewish Culture Month 2026. Together, we’ll explore shapes and symbols in Jewish culture and use them as inspiration to create our own textile artworks.

We’ll also take inspiration from the Delaine Le Bas’ exhibition Un-Fair-Ground, currently on display at The Whitworth. Le Bas uses reoccurring symbols, including horses and eyes, to explore her Romani heritage and identity. You’re very welcome to visit the exhibition beforehand and see how many symbols you can spot.

During the textiles workshop, we’ll look at work by Jewish textile designers in The Whitworth’s collection, including Otti Berger and Tibor Reich- drawing inspiration from their use of pattern and colour. We will then design our own patterns and transfer them onto fabric, using colour, collage, and stitch to create individual pieces to take home.

No previous experience is needed, and all materials are provided. This workshop welcomes people of all faiths and backgrounds.

Suitable for ages 16+.
