Friday Night Dinner for Jewish Culture Month

16 May - 16 June 2026

Jewish Culture Month celebrates the traditions, stories and practices that bring Jewish life and culture to life today.

One of the most meaningful of these traditions is Friday night dinner (Shabbat) — a weekly moment to pause, share a meal and connect with family and friends as we welcome the weekly Shabbat.

This year, we’re inviting Jewish people everywhere to take part by hosting a Friday night Shabbat dinner during Jewish Culture Month and welcoming friends beyond the Jewish community to the table. Sharing this tradition is a powerful way to celebrate Jewish culture, spark conversation and build understanding through food, ritual and hospitality.

Whether your Friday night dinner is large or small, traditional or informal, opening your home to friends is a simple way to take part in Jewish Culture Month.

How to take part

  1. Host a Friday night Shabbat dinner during Jewish Culture Month.
  2. Invite non-Jewish friends to join you and experience this important Jewish tradition.
  3. Share a photo or story on Instagram before you light candles! Help spread the celebration of Jewish culture.

Share your evening

Post your Friday night dinner moments on social media and tag us on Facebook and Instagram @jewishculturemonth.

Because Jewish culture is meant to be shared — and it starts at the table.
